Rubidium Carbonate

Description

Rubidium Carbonate Rb₂CO₃, colorless crystal or white powder with monoclinic structure, 99.0%, 99.9% and 99.99% purity, CAS 845-09-8, molecular weight 230.94, melting point at 837°C but decomposes at 900°C, is a convenient compound of rubidium with very hygroscopic feature to absorb water easily, soluble in water and insoluble in alcohol. Rubidium Carbonate Rb₂O₃ is mainly used in the preparation of Rubidium Rb metal, as the raw material for other rubidium salts, manufacturing rubidium single crystal, in special glass and in fiber optics to enhance stability, durability of glass and to reduce its conductivity, miniature high-energy batteries and crystal scintillation counters, and also found application in catalyst and analytical reagent. Being easy to absorb moisture, Rb₂CO₃ should be stored in a dry and cool place with tightly sealed container and away from incompatible substance.
